I can no longer be mad at how the German people acted during World War II. I can no longer say, “How could they have let that happen?” I can no longer judge them, and think my country would have known better; my country would have acted differently. I now understand how it happened; how they let Hitler come to power; how they could put human beings in ovens. I now understand, because it is happening here.


We are days away from giving a man who speaks out of both sides of his mouth the power to dismantle our Constitution and create endless war. WE are not only preparing to dismantle the Geneva Convention, we are rationalizing torturing people. That we are even having this conversation is shocking. That it is okay to waterboard a person or shock them thermally to the point that they think they are going to die is terrifying to me. I know if they can do this to terrorists, I’m next. All in the name of fear. We are just about give up our Constitutional Right of habeas corpus, which means that government cannot throw us citizens in jail without just cause and informing us why. I’ve seen war movies how the Nazis shut down the presses. Anyone who spoke vs. the Reich became an enemy of the state. Who now can say, “It can’t happen here.” When anybody confronts our war policies, we are told that they “threaten national security” and are therefore an enemy of the State. All because we have to be afraid of the terrorists. I’m afraid of the power of our fears that we are projecting onto the terrorist. They do not have to attack us. We are attacking ourselves by dismantling our freedoms. Dismantling our Constitution and imbalancing the checks and balances encoded in our Congressional/Executive and Judicial branches of government.

America, WAKE UP! We have an auto-immune disease, and it is deadly. For fear of external attack, we are attacking ourselves. Our attack on our self is more insidious than what could happen from an external attack. The number of US fatalities in Iraq has now surpassed the number of fatalities at the World Trade Center. Our window to do anything about this is closing, because once power seals itself from any communication and feedback, we will a police state and will no longer be able to speak freely. It’s happened to our government representatives already. In an auto-immune disease, anytime the body’s vital force comes up to respond, the body identifies it as an enemy and attacks it. In this political climate, America’s auto immune disease attacks and silences any voice that attempts to present a more integrative point of view with rationalizations that the State must be protected. It is just like the over-reactive immune system in an autoimmune disease that attacks the vitality of the body. It has been amazing to watch the word “Peace” be made into a dirty word. The voice of freedom, our healing response, is being attacked by the State’s fear-inflamed, over-zealous attempt to protect our national security; attacking through over-control, the very body it is attempting to protect.



We are attacking our own vitality, integrity and our capacity to even call our selves human. War tribunals were set up to try the inhumane actions of the Nazi war criminals. Even today, people are being held accountable for their Nazi histories; yet I am watching rationalizations for torture become part of our everyday language. It is appalling to me what my country is saying “YES” to. It’s sad, because it is rationalizing, just as Germans did, out of fear. Once again, please wake up. This administration is creating preemptive legislation so they can avoid being tried and held accountable for their actions. It’s preemptive because they understand the illegality of what they are doing. All of this is being done in the name of Christianity.



I understand what happened in Germany. FEAR. Fear is a terrible motivation from which to create a world. The Germans projected their fear and made the Jews their scapegoat. We are projecting our fear and making the terrorist our scapegoat.
